There is a reason I adore intelligent pets, and yes, rats are some of the most intelligent you can get. I like smart pets because they're trouble and because it often comes out of left field. For instance, Bayliss found a new way to tell me what he thought of his meds. He's on anti-biotic right now as a preventative since he had surgury last Thursday. (Neutering a rat is not like doing so with a cat or dog, it's a lot more involved.) I've only had one rat ever enjoy taking anti-biotics and it's interesting to see what ploy eash new rat takes. Haga has already shown a propensity for the squirm free approach, and Bayliss has begun with the 'hold it in my cheek pouches and dribble it out when I think she's not looking' tactic. But tonight, it all went down him easily and, satisfied, I put the eye dropper on the desk because the boys were out running on it and I figured I'd clean it after I put them away. And boy did I have to. A few minutes later, I looked over to see Bayliss steal the dropper, drag it to their safety-cage and bury it in the litter where they go to the bathroom. Yeesh. Everyone's a critic. You've got to hand it to him though, it's a much more stylish way to express displeasure than clawing the couch or peeing on the rug.
Apparently, your rat has got a sense of humour.
I like that.

It sounds like he was hoping you'd throw it away with their poop. That's cute. XD
