Here's a conversation that came across the V-Strom mailing list regarding the Kawasaki ZX10R, the most powerful open-class sportbike in the world. (edited for clarity and spelling)
>> My friend let me try his 2004 ZX10R last night. 160 hp I'm told. Good lord is all I can say.> Do you think that would be a good learner bike?
Sure, you could learn things like "what does a compound fracture look like" and "how does it feel to be catheterized".
Reminds me of one time I brought my VFR to Honda Milpitas for an oil change. Get around to the back of the shop and there's a 929 (or whatever the RR was back then) that had been run under a truck on the first day of ownership by someone that should not have been on any bike, let alone that one.
So I asked if the guy that sold that bike had any thoughts about it. They never did answer.
I'm not saying salespeople should be held responsible, but they damned well should convey a little more than "what would it take for you to take this hometoday?"
Disclaimer: I like that shop and the salespeople there too.
