As per standard practice on weekends in this household, we slept in. We were particularly exhausted from a hectic week that culminated in a company party at Trader Vic's, followed by a showing of the original Manchurian Candidate at CJ & David's house.
I spent the rest of today wrenching on the SV. The latest wrinkle in the front end swap project is the complete lack of a front brake lever. I had expected something as common as a brake lever to be easy to come by, since it is so commonly broken by squidly sportbikers. It turns out that a 2004 GSX-R 600/750 front brake lever is a very rare item this time of year. The bike is just too new, and no previous year will work. I do have a backup plan that involves using the SV master cylinder, but then I can't use the nifty steel braided brake lines I have due to a banjo bolt incompatibility issue. Perhaps I could find a banjo bolt that would work, but I'm not sure where to look. Would an auto parts store have an assortment that I could pick through? Hmmm.
I did manage to install a new undertray on the other end of the bike today. Fitment was a bit rough, but it looks pretty good. It tidies up the rear end by eliminating the ginormous stock rear fender. I then bolted the front discs on the wheel, and called it a day.
